marriage

some of these people are doing it...

Not the one in the middle.

So many good times, and jokes and trips...I'm glad you girls are growing up! maybe some day I will join you.
But for now I will wear my bridesmaid dress, dodge your bouquet and eat your cake!

I have a feeling that no husband is going to get in the way of times like these...

Don't judge

I officially have one month of college left!

seriously

so to celebrate I bought these shorts...

now, some of you might be thinking, "Karly, those are too short".
They are actual shorts, yes.
This is not normal for me. For the past four years I have attended (and I'm more than glad I have) BYU, and anything above the knee has been too short. But no longer!
don't get me wrong, I love being modest
and I'm not going to go wild because of these shorts,
but my lower thighs have been neglected enough!

whilst I was reading

"By complex, confusing, and almost contradictory mathematical process, by the use of zigzags instead of straight lines, the earth can be proved to be the centre of things celestial;
But by an operation so simple that it can be comprehended by a schoolboy, its position can be verified among the other worlds which revolve about the sun, and its movements harmonized with the laws of the universe."

-James Weldon Johnson in "Autobiography of an Ex-coloured Man"

*also, Pluto's not a planet. FYI

In celebration

of my new red skirt.

Did you know that according to the National Greeting Card Association (the NGCA) 85 percent of Valentines are bought and sent by women?
I protest!

I will not be sending out Valentines cards.

Happy Valentines anyway...

latest love affair

I spend all my time with him, John Steinbeck.
Thats right, while my cousins make eternal relationships I have mad affairs with books. I am writing my senior thesis about John, his friend Ed and this book...

I highly recommend reading it. Its everything a book should be; poetry, comedy, tragedy, full of nostalgia. If you don't want to be the person you've always wanted after you read it... well then I don't know what.

favorite encounter in my research:

(written by john Steinbeck in a letter to a friend)

"The values (of society) have gotten crossed up. Courtesy is confused with weakness an emotion with sentimentality. We want to be tough guys and forget that the toughest guys were always the wholest guys. Achilles wept like a baby over Patroclus and Hector's guts turned to water with fear."

1913

The year mascara was invented by a chemist named T. L. Williams.
The earliest in history I could have been born and still led a happy life.

The drug of choice.

I'm serious, its an addiction.
I have really blond eyelashes and I hate them. Sometimes after days at the beach we go straight to town to go to Walmart or the movies, i always bring my mascara just incase. My roommates look at me in amusement (disgust?) as I push my cart through Walmart WHILE applying my mascara.

Best day of my life = while wrapping presents with my sister kerry for christmas she looks at me and says, "are you wearing false eyelashes?"
"No."

*sigh* success
